Lanzarote For Your Brilliant Beach Excursion
Thinking about jetting off to the Canaries this autumn? There are seven of these sunny Spanish islands in total and collectively they are the second most popular holiday destination in the country, after Catalonia. Lanzarote in particular is a hot favourite, but what is the attraction of this delightful island.
A wide choice of top quality places to stay is certainly a major draw – and there are some fantastic accommodation options on the island. With tourists able to choose from a wide selection of villas in Lanzarote, as well as hotels and apartment complexes. All of which are available at prices much lower than elsewhere in Spain, such as Ibiza, Majorca and along the Spanish Costas.
The weather is also a key ingredient for most visitors. Lanzarote is situated close to the west coast of Morocco and as a result the climate here is spring like all year round. Making it possible to bask in the sunshine on the island's glorious beaches even in the winter when the majority are tucking into their Christmas dinners back home.
Ally this to the ready availability of more cheap flights to the island than ever before and you have all of the ingredients for a reasonably priced holiday with guaranteed sunshine thrown in for free.
So where should tourists stay? There are three main resorts on the island; Costa Teguise, Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen. Each boasting it own microclimate identity and attractions, so it’s sensible to read up a bit before you book in order to ensure that you make the right choice.
Those seeking plenty of action and nights on the town should book a break in Puerto del Carmen, the oldest resort on the island. Where they will find an abundance of bars, clubs and restaurants. There's a good selection of villas in Playa Blanca starting from about €500 per week.
If beaches are more your thing then head instead for the rapidly growing resort of Playa Blanca, located at the southern end of Lanzarote. A destination that is home to some superb beaches such as Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo. As well as the famous coves and bays of Papagayo, which are just a short distance from the centre of the resort and a real must see for any visitor. Not least as they regularly feature in polls of Spain´s best beaches.
Holiday villas in Puerto del Carmen also cost a little less than in Puerto del Carmen with rental rates starting from €450 per week. That said however the cost difference is so small that resort choice tends to be the deciding factor.
